Visionary since 1829: The University of Stuttgart stands for exceptional, world-acclaimed research and first-class teaching in one of Europe’s most vibrant industrial areas. The university is a reliable employer, partner for technology transfer and focuses on interdisciplinarity.
The University of Stuttgart is one of the leading technically oriented universities in Germany with global significance. It sees itself as a center of university-based, non-university, and industrial. Furthermore, it takes a role as a guarantor of research-based, focused on quality and holism. The university promotes the transfer of knowledge and technologies to society in all its areas of expertise and competence. The “Stuttgarter Weg” (Stuttgart Way) means an interdisciplinary integration of engineering, natural sciences, humanities, management, economics and social sciences based on the fundamentals of cutting-edge research at a disciplinary level. Our vision is “Intelligent systems to benefit society”.
In BANTER, IRS leads and supports critical activities across the consortium:
• WP4 – Nuclear Electric Propulsion (lead): IRS drives the design, dynamic modelling, and ground-testing of the project’s electric power generation cycle and NH₃-fed electric thrusters. This includes iterative development of simulation frameworks, subsystem integration, performance validation in vacuum facilities, and rapid incorporation of test feedback to refine power-and-propulsion architectures.
• WP1 – Project Management & Coordination (support): IRS assists in administrative and technical coordination, contributing to meeting organisation, progress monitoring, and harmonisation of reporting and risk-management processes.
• WP2 – System Engineering of BANTER (support) : IRS collaborates on defining mission scenarios and system-level requirements, participates in the development and consolidation of the test and qualification roadmap, and provides input for prototype assessments up to mid-TRL levels.
• WP5 – Communication, Dissemination & Exploitation (support): IRS helps implement the communication strategy, authors technical publications, engages stakeholders through workshops and conferences, and contributes to data-management and IPR frameworks to maximise impact and market uptake.
